Coming from Reno, I was excited to try this highly rated restaurant for really good sushi. The last best sushi I had prior was in Vancouver, which is way too far to travel. The sushi here was awesome, the fish was fresh and served at room temperature, the rice was prepared well. The yellowtail and the sake melted in your mouth-smooth, no sinew . We also had the trio pokey that was served with three different salts, and the traditional rainbow roll. Horchata Agemochi is also worth a try. The service was excellent from the seating to the serving. And the ambience of the restaurant was contemporary, comfortable, and clean. The price of the sushi was very reasonable and the portions were also satisfactory. I am glad that I can drive the two hours it takes to get here for excellent sushi and service. It beats flying to Vancouver.

First time here and I have to say it was an amazing experience. The sushi was very fresh and the sake flight that I had with my meal was amazing. My server Jocelyn was very helpful in picking items off the menu and sold me on many things. I sat at the bar and socialized with other couples next to me. It's definitely a bit on the pricier side but honestly super worth it for a special occasion. Very lively atmosphere. I'll definitely come back for more!

Kru is always an amazing treat! We reserved a table in advance to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were seated upon arrival and the service from start to finish was absolutely fantastic. We ordered a warm mushroom salad with milk and honey bread to start with and both were delicious. My husband's sample nigiri were amazing and my steak was sublime. We ended our meal with a Crème Brûlée and a chocolate mousse. The entire meal was simply excellent and I truly believe Kru is the best restaurant in Sacramento.

I recently visited this sushi spot for a date night, and I was impressed by the elevated aesthetic. The dim lighting and modern decor created the perfect ambiance. We ordered the Firecracker, Tesla, and 3 Alarm rolls, and each one was delicious. We loved the presentation & the flavors. Overall, this place exceeded our expectations. Awesome service and atmosphere, which was just the right vibe for our date night. Highly recommend!

in town for a little and decided to stop by kru on a wednesday night with a friend. even though it was a wednesday, there was still a little wait for a table. plenty of parking around either street side or behind the building! beautiful decor inside, lovely ambiance. perfect for a night out with friends or date night. our server was awesome, he was so attentive and helpful. we decided to start with the seasonal tempura squash blossoms, which were amazing! the roasted squash added a nice texture and they were perfectly crispy on the outside. we also opted to try one of their special themed cocktails. the "rubber ducky, you're the one" cocktail we picked out was sesame street themed! it came in the cutestttt oscar the grouch mug and was really well-balanced. not too sweet, and packed a punch for sure. we ordered their tesla roll and kings roll, and the plating on both was stunning. the tesla roll was almost reminiscent of sour cream and onion chips? because of the garlic cream and chive topping! such a unique taste, i LOVED this one. all the fish and crab tasted super fresh, no issues there. the kings roll was also lovely, great quality of lobster and the eel sauce paired perfectly. at their prices, i'd say these were fair and worth the money. making space for dessert, we wanted to try the orange and vanilla mochi and the japanese cookie "frappucino". from the description name, we thought the mochi would be like ice-cream filled japanese stretchy mochi, but were pleasantly surprised with butter mochi! this dessert was so GOOD! the orange flavor in the mochi cake really balances the ice cream out well, and the meringue's were crispy on the outside and melted in your mouth. everything just came together really cohesively, one of the best desserts i've tried. our server managed to make the frappucino without alcohol using an NA whiskey, which we really appreciated going the extra mile for. this was a really balanced drink, bitterness and floral notes from the cold brew paired with the creamy oreo topping. really awesome way to end off the night. i'll definitely be back when i'm in the area!

Yes I finally found a good sushi place in Sac area. As some menu items are interesting, I definitely appreciated the quality of their sashimi. Sushi rolls were really good as well. The only thing I did not love was their sushi. Ikura sushi was extremely salty with soy sauce already brushed on by a chef. Again hamachi sushi had soy sauce brushed on and it was not as good as sashimi. Reservation is a must and I will definitely go back to try different items!

Kru never disappoints! My parents were in the mood for something different, so I took them here for sushi. We didn't have a reservation, but the hour and a half wait was totally worth it. Our server, John, was fantastic and got our orders started right away. Every dish was prepared to perfection--nothing was just "okay." The presentation was stunning, and the flavors were even better. The sashimi was incredibly fresh and buttery. The chuturo carpaccio with jalapeños had the perfect kick, with the peppers being noticeably fresh. The minty cream sauce that came with the blossom tempura special was another unique and tasty appetizer that I particularly enjoyed. Kru is a great spot for an enjoyable dinner!

The service here is always very attentive and kind. Kru never disappoints. With a thoughtful and delicious menu, I always end up with a memorable dining experience. On this visit, we didn't have reservations and just took a chance. We were given a 45 minute wait time, but a spot opened up at the bar, so we sat after only about ten minutes. I wasn't super hungry so I didn't order as much as usual but wanted to try the seasonal gazpacho -- also sake nigiri is my go to to satisfy a sushi craving. I hadn't tried the miso either. My husband ordered the Super B Roll and an old fashioned. He loved both. The raw fish was fresh and tender. Gazpacho was incredible: simple yet flavorful and elevated with thoughtful ingredients. The miso seemed flavorful and more satisfying than other miso I've tried. In the past I've loved the fresh oysters and literally everything else I've tried here. This place is a true dining experience. I've never been disappointed and always look forward to going again. The service, food, and drinks are top tier.

My wife and I decided to try this restaurant on a Friday evening before heading to the movies, and we couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. We walked in right as they opened without any reservations, and were promptly seated at a lovely table near the bar. The ambiance immediately stood out... it's elevated, sophisticated, and perfect for an intimate dining experience. The dim lighting around the bar area added a touch of warmth and coziness, setting the perfect mood for our evening. We started our meal with the miso soup and duck dumpling. The miso soup was definitely more elevated than your typical miso soup. It was comforting and flavorful with the addition of mushrooms, a perfect beginning to the meal. The duck dumplings were delightful--perfectly cooked with a rich, savory filling that made each bite satisfying. For our main course, we indulged in a variety of sushi rolls: the Tesla roll, Spicy B. Roll, and Caterpillar roll. Each roll was crafted with fresh ingredients and balanced flavors. The Tesla roll was particularly memorable, with a unique blend of textures and a hint of spice that really elevated the dish. The Spicy B. Roll had just the right amount of heat, and the Caterpillar roll was a delightful combination of grilled fresh water eel and avocado that melted in our mouths. We finished our meal with the chocolate-black sesame torte, and it was the perfect ending. Rich, decadent, and just the right amount of sweetness to round off our dining experience. The service was outstanding from start to finish. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. It was clear that they care deeply about their customers' experience, and they made our first visit a truly satisfying one for the books. All in all, this restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way. The ambiance, food, and service were all top-notch, making it a fantastic choice for a special night out. We'll definitely be returning for another meal soon!
